I like to create abstracts, and this was inspired by the fact that daffodils are already in season this year. I don’t remember a time before where you could buy daffodils, or see them in the park in December or January.
This may not obviously be a daffodil, but that’s what I was aiming for. The daffodil is against a yellow piece of card, and I got very lucky with the sun streaming in through the window creating very strong light and patterns on the wall behind. This meant that shadows looked interesting, and I think, create the look I was going for.
I used my 100mm macro lens and a very wide aperture (f/2.8) to make the rest of the flower blur into the background and also add to the look.
